LAB Joins the Audio Publishers Association

The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (LAB) has become a member of the Audio Publishers Association (APA). This marks a step toward a broader international network of audiobook professionals and an opportunity to present Lithuania’s experience in this field to a global audience. Membership will allow LAB to more actively follow global trends in the audiobook market, exchange experiences with professionals from other countries, and establish new international connections.

Founded in 1986, the APA is a nonprofit association based in the United States that brings together audiobook publishers and other professionals in the industry. The association focuses heavily on audiobook market research, professional collaboration, market development, and the dissemination of best practices. The APA community includes publishers, producers, narrators, recording studios, distributors, and other professionals involved in the creation and publication of audio content.

APA members include such well-known companies in the audiobook market as “Penguin Random House Audio”, “Hachette Audio”, “HarperAudio”, “Macmillan Audio”, “Simon & Schuster Audio”, “Audible”, “Storytel”, “BookBeat”, and others.

“We view this membership as an opportunity to be closer to the international community of audiobook professionals. It is important for us to see what trends are shaping the future of the audiobook market, what decisions are being made in other countries, and what new possibilities are emerging in the field of audio content,” says Audrius Meška, LAB’s representative for the APA partnership.

One of the benefits of membership is access to the information on the audiobook market compiled by the APA. The association conducts consumer and sales research that allows it to track market growth, listener habits, and key industry trends. Members also have the opportunity to participate in professional events and training sessions and to network with other industry participants.

This September, a LAB representative will participate in the “International Summit of Audio Publishers”, a virtual event organized by the APA. The event will offer valuable insights into the latest market trends and global best practices. We look forward to applying these insights in our work and sharing them with Lithuanian publishers and other audio content professionals.
