The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library turns 60!
All these years, we’ve been building a library where books come to life. So let’s get together, chat, and, of course, celebrate.
Anniversary Programme
1:00 p.m. “There’s Another Part of the City” tour.
Tour is led by guide Albertas Kazlauskas (from the NGO “Gatvės gyvos”), who will introduce you to the history of our “skroblynė” neighborhood, which was developed over a long period by the blind community. How and why is it connected to our library and the beginnings of audiobooks?
3:30 p.m. A concert of well-wishes featuring our longtime narrator, Regina Jokubauskaitė.
Instead of traditional speeches, we invite you to send your greetings or wishes to us via email at LAB60@labiblioteka.lt. All messages will be read aloud during the concert, and if you’d like, you can also choose a piece to be performed by the international men’s choir “Unia”.
5:00 p.m. Activities across different venues:

- A meeting with voice actors Algimantas Butvilas and Gustė Pupkevičienė: a documentary narrative from the recording studio (script by Monika Baranauskaitė)
- A simultaneous chess exhibition with Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. If you’d like to participate, please register via Microsoft Forms. If you’d just like to watch, you’re more than welcome! The exhibition will be commentated by Andrius Paulauskas, president of the Vilnius Chess Club, and actor Marius Repšys, with a live broadcast on our YouTube channel.
6:00 p.m. Birthday party with DJ AurRam (Aurimas Ramonas).

We welcome everyone – those who live nearby, those just passing through, those who use the library’s services, and even those who’ve never heard of us. The library has always been built by people – let’s keep this tradition alive!
