Culture Without Barriers – Talking Books, 2023–2028

Project objective

The project aims to ensure access to cultural content tailored to individual needs for people experiencing social, information and digital exclusion. It seeks to empower people who, due to various health conditions, are unable to read standard printed text, enabling them to use information resources available in accessible formats.

Target group

The target group consists of people in Lithuania who experience information exclusion, including people with visual impairments and other health conditions that prevent them from reading standard printed text, and who live in rural areas outside Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys, where the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library has branches.

Project objectives and activities

  1. Develop a training programme for the target audience on digital literacy and the use of information resources in accessible formats.
  2. Acquire equipment for organising and delivering mobile training and develop two mobile applications for the ELVIS virtual library, making it easier to access electronic publications adapted for people who are unable to read standard printed text.
  3. Organise mobile training sessions for the target audience in towns and villages throughout Lithuania from 2023 to 2028.

Expected results

At least 100,000 people will be reached and trained during the project.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
