Library Access Ambassador – A Bridge Between the Community and the Library, 2026–2027

The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library, together with its partners, Tallinn Central Library and Landskrona City Library in Sweden, is implementing the project Library Accessibility Ambassador – a Link between Community and the Library”. The project aims to create a network of library accessibility and democracy ambassadors across the Nordic and Baltic countries.

By learning from one another and working together with local communities, we will seek to make libraries more open and accessible to older people, people with print disabilities, migrants, and people learning the local language. Our goal is to turn libraries into accessible community hubs that strengthen social cohesion.

Planned partner meetings:

Tallinn (October 2026)
Focus on assessing library accessibility and developing targeted communication.

Landskrona (March 2027)
Exploring the role of libraries in strengthening democracy.

Vilnius (September 2027)
The final partner meeting will take place during Conference +, an event bringing together library professionals from across Lithuania. Partners will discuss inclusive leadership strategies and lessons learned throughout the project.

The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
